The Type Of Beef That Can Slim You Down

If you've heard of Christian Thibaudeau, you probably know about his morning diet that consists of a half pound of flesh and a few cucumbers on the side. While it sounds intriguing, after about a week it would be more than enough for me. Actually, that goes for just about everything out there.

Most people feel this way, and when healthy food options go south, we all start to hate our diets. When this occurs it's real easy to fall off the wagon and go back to those junk foods and anything else you might crave. Don't hop on the train to Lardassville! Instead you should get your butt in the kitchen and start thinking about the unbelievable beef recipes available. Yes, you can love your food and look great naked at the same time.

Just remember that you won't be able to use "any" beef, but only the grass-fed kind if you want to see results.

From Health Food To Poison

Did you know that grass-fed beef has tons of great protein and omega-3s present. It also has a healthy dose of conjugated linoleic acid or CLA. This is a hell of a lot better than saturated fats and omega-6s. Plus, it tastes great!

The bad thing is that the common corn-fed beef we see in groceries aren't great for the body. In fact, they can poison your body and the government is a huge part of the problem.

We all know that cattle are considered herbivores (you know, grass-eaters), but when they are fed corn instead the problems begin to surface. In fact, there are tons of different grains that are given to cattle, and eventually they become fat and even sick at times. You are actually eating inflammatory-causing omega-6's and saturated (bad) fats when this happens. The good stuff our bodies need is basically nonexistent.

When you think about it; it can be unappealing to be growing corn? Looking at it simply, it would just be loco to support something that costs you rather than profit you. Do you know anyone who can eat debt? Oddly enough, in the United States the government pays farmers to raise corn the market doesn't want or need at all. The end result is too much corn that gets pushed to the cows, and after awhile they become obese.

However, one pound of grain-fed beef is equal to about 16 pounds of corn and soy. Adding up the annual numbers here based upon thousands of tons of grain-fed beef, it's just around a 5 billion dollar a year gain for government subsidies. So how does the government pay these farmers? They do so by using your tax dollars. Plus, they also subsidize the cattle growers.

A Grass-Roots Revolution

The only way this is going to change is by making sure we demand grass-fed beef. It's going to cost a few dollars more, but when everyone begins to switch the supply and demand towards grass-fed beef you will begin to see the difference. Eventually we will get back to eating the meat we used to love years ago.

The downside is that grass-fed beef aren't easy to look for in your local supermarts. You must visit the Whole Food Section in your grocery or farmer's market. The good news is; the more people that do this the easier it will be to find it at the supermarket.
