The past two years, due to the large retailers, Wal-Mart, represented by the promotion, RFID technology in the world set off bursts of enthusiasm, attracted many manufacturers to participate in relevant technology and chip research and development. RFID technology is currently in a period of rapid rise, the technology is the industry recognized as the most promising of this century one of the application of technology, many countries will be RFID as an important industry actively promoted.
RFID technology and its development process
Radio frequency identification technology RFID (Radio FrequencyIdentification) is an automatic identification technology, or by way of non-contact radio frequency two-way data communications, target identification. A typical RFID system generally RFID tags, readers, and computer system components. RFID tags which are generally agreed upon format stored encoded data, the only marked labels are attached to objects. Compared with the traditional means of identification, RFID technology without direct contact, optical visualization, human intervention to complete the information input and processing, and easy to operate, can be widely used in production, logistics, transport, transportation, medical, security, tracking , equipment and asset management, data collection and processing to applications, and is regarded as the future alternative to bar code labels.
RFID system works by: reader antenna sends out a certain frequency of radio frequency signal; when the RFID tag reader into the work field, the antenna induced current, so that RFID tag is activated and to the reader sends out its own code and other information; reader receives the carrier signal from the tag on the received signal demodulation and decoding sent to the host computer for processing; computer system to judge according to logical legitimacy of the label, different settings for the corresponding treatment and control, an order signal; RFID tag data demodulation part of the RF pulse from the received data is demodulated and sent to the control logic, control logic to receive instructions to complete store, send data or other operations.
RFID technology can be traced back to the earliest period of the Second World War, when it was used to conduct air combat operations IFF. Historically, RFID technology can basically be divided into several 10-year period (see table). Therefore, RFID is not a new technology. From the classification point of view, after years of development, 13.56MHz RFID technology has been relatively less mature, the industry most concerned about is located in the high frequency RFID technology, in particular 860MHz ~ 960MHz (UHF band) and long-range RFID technology the most fast; the 2.45GHz and 5.8GHz frequency bands due to product crowded, vulnerable to interference, technology is relatively complex, the related research and applications are still at an exploratory stage.

Global RFID industry development
Globally, the United States has been the establishment of RFID standards, related hardware and software technology development, applications take the forefront in the world. European RFID standard to follow the US-led EPCglobal standards. Application in a closed system, Europe and the United States at the same stage of basic. Although Japan has made UID standards, but mainly by the national vendor support, such as to become the international standard is still a long way to go. South Korean government has attached great importance to the RFID, but RFID standards since South Korea is still unclear.
United States
In industries, TI, Intel and other U.S. integrated circuit manufacturers are currently investing heavily in RFID chip development. Symbol, etc. have been developed at the same time can read bar code and RFID scanners. IBM, Microsoft and HP, etc. are also actively developing the appropriate software and systems to support RFID applications. Currently, the United States, traffic, traffic management, identification, production line automation control, warehouse management and material tracking application of RFID technology in the field has begun. In logistics, the United States, more than 100 companies committed to supporting RFID applications, including: retailers Wal-Mart, manufacturers Gillette, Johnson & Johnson, Procter & Gamble, United Parcel Service logistics industry, logistics companies, and Department of Defense applications.
It is noteworthy that the U.S. government is an active promoter of RFID applications. According to the U.S. Department of Defense contract, October 1, 2004 or January 1, 2005 after all the military supplies RFID tags to be used; the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommended manufacturers use since 2006 RFID tracking of drugs most commonly false; American Social Welfare (SSA) in early 2005, the official use of RFID technology to track a variety of forms and manuals SSA.
Europe
In the industry, the European Philips, STMicroelectronics is actively developing low-cost RFID chip; Checkpoint in the development of multi-system, RFID identification systems; Nokia in developing mobile phones to RFID-based shopping system; SAP is in active development support RFID enterprise applications management software. In the application, the European transport, identification, production line automation and control, materials tracking and other closed system basically at the same stage with the United States. Currently, many large companies in Europe have carried out experiments RFID applications. For example, the first British retailer Tesco in September 2003 concluded the first phase of testing. Test by the company's logistics center and the United Kingdom two shops, logistics centers and test the main between the two box stores and pallet tracking the flow path, using the 915MHz band.
Japan
Japan is a manufacturing power, it is in the field of RFID early start, the government will RFID technology as a key to development. MPHPT released in March 2004 against RFID, "Sensor Network on the use of advanced RFID technology, the final draft of the report." Report, MPHPT will continue to support testing in the UHF band passive and active RFID technology and further discussion on this basis the question of control; in July 2004, Japan .Are you looking full ebook about this topicGet Full Ebook For This Article
