 The Best Tasting Medifast Meals

The other day, I received an email from a reader who was trying to put together a custom medifast order but wasn't sure which foods to chose.  She asked me to give her a list of what were the best tasting foods.  I was happy to do that and I'll share my list with you below, but everyone's tastes are going to be different.  Still, I spend a lot of time on weight loss web sites and many of the folks on there agree with me. So, below I'll go over, by meal, which of the foods I most often chose and enjoy.

My Favorite Medifast Breakfast Choices: For breakfast, I almost always have the cappuccino.  I am a coffee drinker and really could not start my morning without it.  The cappuccino is part of the momentum metabolism line and you can get it by either ordering it individually or ordering a momentum package (which includes most of the other popular foods.)  I also enjoy the oatmeal and like all the flavors (apple cinnamon, blueberry, and peach) but peach has got to be my favorite.

Mid Morning Snack: I will generally have a protein bar here because 10:00 – 10:30 is a busy time for me.  These bars do not have the crumbly texture and bland taste of a lot of protein bars.  Most of them are actually chewy and they don't have a weird after taste.  You are only allowed one of these per day.  The only flavor that I don't like on these is the strawberry crunch.  My favorites are the peanut butter and the chocolate mint. Another good choice would be the brownies or pancakes.

Lunch:  As weird as it sounds, I often have the medifast eggs for lunch.  I eat my lunch somewhat early and I'm often not ravenously hungry at this time.  So, I will add veggies and fat free cheese to the eggs in the morning or sometimes I'll add cheese and tortilla.  Other times, I'll opt for the chili.  It's pretty good and I like to add the low cal cheese and the diet's chips on top to make a sort of taco salad. A lot of people ask me about the soups. A few of them are OK.  I like both the chicken and rice and the chicken noodle. The tomato soup is fine too.  But, I am not a fan of the crab or broccoli but I don't like these things when I'm not dieting either.

Afternoon Snack: I almost always have a shake here.  The medifast 55 dutch chocolate shake is very rich and indulgent tasting and at 3:00, I crave snacks and carbs.  I sometimes use the ready to drink shakes if I'm too busy to pre make the 55, but they aren't my favorite because I really like to control the texture and I like to add fat free syrups. The dutch chocolate shake with caramel syrup and fat free whipped cream is pretty good.  The french vanilla is decent too, but I am partial to chocolate in most all foods.

Dinner:  Your dinner is made on your own and is called your "lean and green meal" – although you can have this main meal whenever you want.  So, I am going to skip this because none of the plan's meals are involved here.

Night Snack:  There are a couple of options here.  Most typically, I will opt for the pudding (my favorite is the banana).  Lately, I've been eating a lot of the medifast ice cream. Sometimes, I'll go for the chips if I want salty rather than sweet. And, there are a lot of recipes that allows you to take the dry pudding and make it into baked goods so sometimes if I have time, I'll do that.

Over all, I don't find that the medifast foods taste too bad.  I generally steer clear of the crab soup, the beef stew, and fruit drinks, but most every thing else is edible and can often be made better by just sprucing it up.
